Elgin Community College offers foundational courses that are equivalent to the first two years of a bachelor’s degree, preparing students to transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Core, prerequisite, and required courses mirror the requirements of a student's targeted degree program at their transfer institution. Academic Advisors are available to help students create individualized educational plans based on their transfer plans.

The following college majors are offered at many Illinois state universities.

Foundation courses required for the college majors listed below are available at ECC. Students can visit ECC's Transfer Services page to learn about the steps involved in transfer planning, gain access to transfer schools' admissions information, identify majors and programs offered at several Illinois universities, view partnerships ECC has with other four-year institutions, and access the calendar for upcoming transfer events.
