Italian (ITN)
All ITN courses numbered 100 and above may be used to fulfill the liberal education requirement in the Associate of Applied Science degree.
All ITN courses numbered 100 and above may be applied to the major field and elective requirement in the AA and AS degrees.
ITN 101 Elementary Italian I, ITN 102 Elementary Italian II, ITN 201 Intermediate Italian I, and ITN 202 Intermediate Italian II require that students contact the language coordinator in order to gain proficiency credits.
ITN 101 Elementary Italian I (4)(4,0)
Designed for students who have had no previous background in Italian. Includes essentials of grammar, pronunciation, practice in sentence structure, elementary composition and conversation. Emphasis placed on the acquisition of the listening, speaking, reading, writing and cultural skills. (1.1) Proficiency Credit Available (2 HICT) Pass/No Credit Available.

Prerequisite: :None. Students who are native speakers or who have previous knowledge of the language are strongly encouraged to take placement testing in the Testing Center. Students may apply to receive (proficiency) credit for each course for which they demonstrate mastery through placement testing.

Designed for continuing students of Italian. Includes essentials of grammar, pronunciation, practice in sentence structure, and continuing elementary composition and conversation. This course builds upon your first two semesters of beginning Italian. You will deepen your understanding and further your Italian grammar practice. You will be involved in a broad variety of assignments and activities that aim to improve your proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing; and your understanding of Italian culture. This course builds upon your first three semesters of beginning and intermediate Italian. You will deepen your understanding and continue your practice of fundamental concepts and structures in Italian language and culture. You will be involved in a broad variety of assignments and activities that aim to strengthen your proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing; and your ability to understand, evaluate, compare, and appreciate many aspects of Italian culture.
